The Federal Government has now increased the rebate to $1600. If you are changing an old electric hot water to a new solar hot water system. Here are the guidelines for you to look at. The Australian Greenhouse Office awards Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) according to how much energy each system saves compared to a conventional electric water heater. The Federal Government has legislated that RECs are applicable when a solar system is installed in a new home or replacing any existing non-solar hot water system. Conditions do apply and these may vary from time to time due to legislative changes. Installations in VIC, SA and WA may also be eligible for State Government rebates plus the federal incentive.

And the NSW Government is giving a rebate to NSW house holders that are putting on a new solar hot water system.The guidelines for you to look at.
